Essentially you need to bring everything you would for camping, just leave the tent at home. You can find a detailed list on our Useful Information page
What is inside the Pods?
The Pods all have electric, with electric sockets for charging your essentials and a small oil-filled radiator/fan heater to add to the cosy feeling. Ardwyn Pod also has built-in beds with foam mattresses and storage underneath, which can either be set as two single beds or converted into a double.
Can we hire beds?
Yes, you can hire double or single camp beds for Bryn-Gwyn and Allt Dderw pods. One of the double camp beds will fit airbed on top for some extra comfort. Bryn-Gwyn Pod will sleep 1 double bed and 2 single beds, or 4-5 single beds. Allt Dderw pod will sleep 1 double bed and 1 single bed or 3 single beds. You can find prices here.
Can we have a campfire or BBQ?
Yes, there is a communal fire pit on the lawn, and stone slabs for disposable BBQ's. We also have a barrel BBQ and Ardwyn has it's own firebowl BBQ. We usually have firewood and charcoal available to purchase, or you can bring your own (remember matches/a lighter).
What cooking equipment do I need to bring?
We have electric hotplates available for you to use, but you will need to bring pans and cooking utensils. You can use your own gas stove, but come prepared to shelter the flame in breezy weather conditions.
Can we get to you via public transport?
Not easily. The easiest way to get to us is to take a train to Hereford. Hereford is connected to Kington by a regular bus service, and there is also a bus that runs from Hereford to Brecon via Hay-on-Wye. From here you can get a taxi, which we recommend pre-booking (we will email you directions).
Do you offer facilities for disabled people?
Yes. Bryn-Gwyn pod is adjacent to the car park, and the toilet/shower pods are nearby with access along hard-standing and decking. The first toilet/shower pod is a wet room and has a shower suitable for disabled users, a shower stool, and hand rails. We recommend that you contact us before booking to discuss your requirements. You can view our Access Statement on the Useful Information page.
Can our dog come too?
Yes. We do allow one or two small dogs in the pods, provided they are attended at all times and kept on a lead at all times. We do have our own Border Collies on the farm, which are welcoming but they can understandably be unsure of another dogs being in their territory. All dogs must also be up-to-date with their worming and have been wormed specifically for tape worms. You can find information about our Dog Policy on the Useful Information page.
Is there a safe area for the children to play in?
Yes. There is a grass area below the campsite and plenty of space around the pods. Care should be taken around any tents and parked cars, and children should be warned about the dangers of the traffic on the farm lane. No campers are allowed in the farm yard or in any fields on the farm (except for access to Ardwyn pod). We may be working nearby to the campsite, either on the farm or in the garden, but this does not suggest an open invitation for children to participate. Babysitting would be extra!
What are your rules on group bookings?
We are a family site and we cater mainly for families and couples (aged 18 and over). Group bookings for exclusive use (all 3 pods) are permitted, but a damage deposit may be requested. Smaller group bookings where party members are aged 18-29 will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances - please contact us providing details of your group and the purpose of your stay.
Can I bring my mountain bike or motorcycle?
We have a bike rack at the front of the open fronted barn where the fridge and freezer are - you will need to bring a bike lock. We accept motorbikes, and can offer alternative parking if arranged in advance. Please note that we are located along narrow lanes.
