Bring all your camping gear, just leave the tent at home
The Pods & Facilities
There are three wooden camping pods located on the campsite. Two of our camping pods are located on our lower camping area adjacent to our shower/toilet pods, and the third camping pod is hidden away up some steps in a field on its own. Each camping pod has space for you to sit outside and relax while looking at the wonderful views, watching the abundance of wildlife, or perhaps stargazing on a clear night.
The camping pods are positioned for space and privacy, but still close enough to be enjoyed by campers who are part of a group occupying more than one camping pod, and there is plenty of safe space for children to play while the adults sit and relax.
All three of our camping pods are equipped with electricity and heating, so you can enjoy all of your modern comforts without losing the great atmosphere of camping. You will need to bring everything you would for camping, including cooking facilities, but leave the tent at home!
Use the tabs below to find out more about each of our camping pods.
Allt Dderw Pod
Sleeps up to 5 adults – internal dimensions: 2.66m wide x 3.52m long Beds: not included, but camp beds can be hired (maximum 1 double and 2 single beds, or 4-5 single beds)
This is the largest of our three camping pods, and it offers a warm and insulated space for up to five adults. There are fitted lights for snuggling up to read your book in the evening, an oil filled heater for extra comfort, and electric sockets to keep all of those essential gadgets topped up. You can hire camp beds from us too, which offer a practical alternative to camping mats and airbeds, and you can also stow your bits and pieces underneath the bed (home from home really). The outside decking area is a space to relax in and gaze at the open countryside, taking in the fresh air and peace and quiet.
The Bryn-Gwyn camping pod is situated adjacent to the car park, facilities area and toilet/shower pods so everything you need is easily accessible. There is a sensor security light that illuminates the decking area, which can be switched on or off. The double doors are lockable from the inside and outside, and there is an inside blind that you can pull over the doorway for your privacy as well as a small rear window and vents to aid ventilation. This camping pod is ideal for families or groups of friends wanting a holiday in rural Wales, and it is also dog friendly.
The Bryn-Gwyn camping pod is also suitable for disabled or less able persons - please contact us for more details.
Bryn means 'hill' in Welsh and Gwyn means 'white' - named after the hillside that this pod looks onto. It is pronounced 'Brin Gwin', or locally 'Brung-win'
Sleeps 3 adults (maximum 2 adults & 2 small children under 6) - internal dimensions: 2.32m wide x 2.70m long
Beds: not included, but camp beds can be hired (maximum 1 double and 1 single bed, or 3 single beds)
Similar to the Bryn-Gwyn camping pod, the cosy and insulated Allt Dderw camping pod is slightly smaller and is suitable for 3 adults (or 2 adults & 2 small children under 6 years old). There is an oil-filled heater for added comfort, a small lamp inside so you can see your way in the evenings, and electric sockets to charge your gadgets. You can bring your own camping bed, or hire one of our camp beds to sleep on. The private decking area is perfect for sitting out and watching the sunset or gazing at the stars, with the added advantage that the pod is situated on a slight angle to provide added privacy from the adjacent facilities area. This camping pod is accessed along a stone/grass path, and has two steps onto the decking area, with the campsite facilities close by.
The Allt Dderw camping pod is ideal for couples on a romantic weekend break in rural Wales, or a family with small children. There is a sensor security light that illuminates the decking area, which can be switched on or off. The double doors are lockable from the inside and outside, and there is an inside blind that you can pull over the doorway for your privacy as well as a small rear window and vents to aid ventilation. This camping pod is also dog friendly.
Allt Dderw is the name of a local hill. Allt (or gallt) means 'wooded hillside' in Welsh and Dderw (or derw) means 'oaken'. It is pronounced 'alt th-eh-roo'
Sleeps 2 adults (maximum 2 adults and 2 infants) 2x mattresses included measuring 180cm (6 foot) tall by 60 cm (2 foot) wide
The Ardwyn camping pod offers something a little bit different. Made by Microlodge in Scotland, who also made our toilet/shower units, this camping pod offers built-in beds with comfortable foam mattresses which can be arranged as two singles or one double to sleep 2 adults. The pod has also been successfully occupied by 2 adults with 2 small infants (with their own beds), and 2 adults and 1 young child (single air bed to make a triple bed, or placed on the floor between the two single beds). There is plenty of storage, a fan heater for those cooler nights, as well as lighting and electric sockets.
Ideal for backpackers, older children who are part of a family group, and couples wanting a secluded romantic weekend break. There are beautiful views with the Black Mountains in the distance, and integrated seating along the front of the camping pod or a small bench where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. There is also space for a BBQ or even to pitch an extra small tent if required.
The Ardwyn camping pod is located up some steps away from the main camping area, in a field of its own (apart from a few sheep, perhaps) overlooking the main camping area. The steps are shallow, and there are approx. 60 of them, followed by a grassy path (10 metres) to reach the camping pod itself. The main campsite, facilities and car park are situated on the other side of the farm lane at the bottom of the steps. You will not be able to park beside this pod, so make sure you are happy and able to carry your belongings to the pod. This camping pod is also dog friendly.
Ardwyn simply means 'on a hill' in Welsh. It is pronounced 'Ar-dwin'
