Powys Pods is located on our semi-organic working hill farm, which has been farmed by our family since 1984, and now runs a flock of two hundred mixed-breed Texel, Suffolk, Berrichon and Radnor sheep and small herd of Welsh Black cows that run with a Hereford bull. We also operate the well-established soft fruit plant nursery, Welsh Fruit Stocks, which has sold soft fruit plants to gardeners and growers all over the UK since 1991, but now concentrates it's efforts on blackcurrant bush propagation for the UK blackcurrant industry.
Shan, who ran the farm with husband Nigel for twenty-five years before sadly passing away in 2011, had the vision of being able to share the farm with others so they too could enjoy the beautiful surroundings, which is exactly what we hope we have achieved. Rather than offering a superior and luxurious high-end ‘Glamping’ experience, our aim at Powys Pods is to provide simple and enjoyable camping, and to cater for those wanting to get out and make the most of the countryside; the so-called ‘Muddy Boots Brigade'.
Powys Pods was established in 2012 and partially funded by a Glasu development grant. The farm is now run by Nigel, with his daughters Jess, Jo and Elinor running the Powys Pods enterprise, and Jess is the manager and is in charge of the day-to-day running of the campsite. So we welcome you to come and join us for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday on our farm nestled in the border hills of Mid Wales, where you can join us for a night or even a fortnight - or return year after year.
